Belgium-based Etex has signed a deal with building materials company BGC to acquire the latter’s gypsum and fiber cement business. The fiber cement business includes the Canning Vale fiber cement board plant in Western Australia. BGC also operates nine warehouses in Australia and New Zealand. Etex said the deal expanded its activities in “attractive” local markets and presented significant growth opportunities. Completion is expected in early 2024.
Etex CEO Bernard Delvaux said: “This transaction is a strategic opportunity for Etex to complement our footprint in Australia and further improve the accessibility of our products and services to customers. It will strengthen our plaster wall offering board products, and through a broad product range and good channel access, we are well-positioned in the growing fiber cement activities.
